KUALA PENYU: More than 8,700 domestic electricity users in Kuala Penyu and Menumbok are expected to benefit from improved customer services following the opening of Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd’s (SESB) new district office.
Kuala Penyu Assemblyman Datuk Limus Jury said the office would serve electricity users across 74 villages, enhancing service delivery and accessibility for the local community.
He thanked SESB for upgrading its premises to provide a more comfortable and conducive environment for both customers and staff.
“This initiative reflects SESB’s commitment to improving service delivery and ensuring that the needs of the local community continue to receive attention.
“I am confident that continued efforts to improve electricity supply and customer service can create a more conducive environment for attracting investment, creating job opportunities and accelerating development in Kuala Penyu,” he said after officiating at the opening on Friday.
Also present were SESB Chairman Datuk Saadiah Aziz and Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mohd Yaakob Jaafar.
Saadiah said construction of the new office, which replaces the previous premises, began in January 2024 at a contract cost of RM2.99 million. The facility began operations in September 2026.
She said the office featured a modern, practical open-plan layout designed to improve the working environment, strengthen staff coordination and streamline customer transactions.
“The opening of this office marks SESB’s continued efforts to strengthen its presence at district level, ensuring that electricity supply services and customer transactions are handled more efficiently and meet the needs of the local community.
“Our priority is not only to ensure electricity is supplied to customers, but also to make sure every customer who deals with us feels heard, understood and given clear guidance,” she said.
Saadiah added that improving services for more than 600,000 users across Sabah and the Federal Territory of Labuan required more efficient work processes and greater use of technology to simplify customer transactions.
To support this, SESB has introduced the mySE digital platform, which enables customers to pay electricity bills, apply for new electricity supplies and access relevant announcements more conveniently.
She said the platform was part of SESB’s broader efforts to improve customer communication and service delivery in line with its rebranding initiatives.
“Through mySE, customers can pay their bills more accurately and conveniently, apply for new electricity supplies, and receive timely and accurate information on relevant announcements,” she said.
