Samsung just announced the new slew of foldable devices for 2026 – and this time, we have the introduction of the new wide Galaxy Z Fold8! This new form factor comes with a 4:3 aspect ratio when unfolded, and it is going to be focused around content consumption – and we have to agree, as we’ve already tested the device for a short while.

As a short summary to everything that is announced during the Galaxy Unpacked July 2026, watch our video here.
As a quick recap, there are 5 different products – the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Flip8, and also the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 alongside the Galaxy Watch9 series.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 is positioned as the mainstream book-style foldable, designed for users who spend their time reading, gaming, streaming, and browsing across its larger internal display. Throughout my short time with it, reading books on it is actually a very viable thing to do, especially since the app can automatically split into two-page view.

Samsung says it is the lightest Galaxy Z Fold8 device to date at 201g, while retaining a 4,800mAh battery.

The current-existing lanky, narrow, but tall foldable phone is renamed to the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. It is aimed towards productivity thanks to the larger unfolded display that blurs the line between a smartphone and a tablet.
The new Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is now thinner than before at only 4.1mm when unfolded, with an upgraded ultrawide angle camera.

As for the Galaxy Z Flip8, it is now also thinner than before, at only 6.1mm and weighs at only 180 grams. The cover display’s bezel is also thinner than before, then made to be more useful with access to many more features and recommended actions through that display.

All the new foldables are also putting more emphasis on privacy with One UI 9.0 thanks to the Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) and also the Samsung Knox Vault. If you didn’t already know, Samsung devices are now also compatible with Apple’s AirDrop so that we can transfer files between Samsung Galaxy and Apple devices easily.
