Newborn dead in Lahad Datu dumpster

LAHAD DATU: The body of a newborn boy was found in a dumpster at Fajar area, here, last Saturday.

District Police Chief, ACP Dr. Rohan Shah Ahmad, in a statement on Sunday said the body was found by the contractor-garbage truck driver while picking up garbage at the area at about 11.30pm.

Rohan said the baby was wrapped in a shirt when the man discovered him in a pile of garbage.

“A team of police from Lahad Datu Police Headquarters rushed to the scene for investigation upon receiving information about the discovery.

According to Rohan, the case will be investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealment of birth by disposal of a dead baby.

He said police launched effort to track down the suspect/s involved in the case.
