Newcastle United have called up Jay Turner-Cooke for their Austrian preseason camp.
The teenager ended last season in the first-team roster and has flown over to Austria after spending the week with the club's Under-21 squad in Spain. Turner-Cooke was signed from Sunderland's Academy and starred for the club's second string last term.
Toon boss Eddie Howe included him in his squad for the Premier League trip to Manchester City.
Howe had said last season: "It would have done him the world of good to see him from afar and take it all in. "I think he's a real talent, a player with very good technical ability.
"With the injuries to Jonjo and Joe Willock, he's close to playing. He was close to being involved because we're running out of midfielders. Those two players have injuries, and they'll keep him out for the rest of the season."
