Newcastle captain Jamal Lascelles could be out for the remainder of the year.
Lascelles suffered an ACL injury in victory over West Ham.
Newcastle have now announced Lascelles is set for surgery.
The Magpies stated on X: "After seeing a specialist consultant, he is expected to undergo surgery next week and will be out for six-nine months.
"Everyone at #NUFC extends their best wishes to Jamaal for a full and speedy recovery."
