Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe is counting on his players refocusing for their clash with West Ham.

The Toon go into the game on the back of their Champions League triumph over PSG.

Howe said, "I hope the players can re-focus their energy and attention onto West Ham. We have to get this game right; if you don't get the psychology right, every game is difficult but especially West Ham away and everything that brings.

"We can't underestimate any challenge. We need to deliver; the motivation is there.

"It has been a great response to three tough games, especially the last one at Brighton. We had a long time to think about that game; not together because we all split.

"Then we came together again and the response was so good. There is a real togetherness, spirit and energy that carried us through. We'd love to end this block of games with another good result."

On his players' emotions after the PSG win, he added: "They didn't say a lot. They are vocal with criticism but when things go well they are more subdued.

"I missed them in the morning, but I saw them in the afternoon. There was a little comment and then they wanted to play themselves and recreate some of the moments from the game. They are brilliant for me because they have a way of bringing me back to reality. Spending time with your kids is the best thing."
