Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe admits Harvey Barnes will be missing for the remainder of the year.

The winger suffered a foot injury in the first-half of Sunday's 8-0 win at Newcastle United.

Howe said, "We think he's going to be out for around three months.

"No surgery required which is good news but his foot is now in a boot. It's an injury underneath his toe. He's now started his recovery and he's got to rest to let it recover then we can build him back up again."

On their schedule, Howe also said: It is for us, it's totally different to last year where we were able to go week to week, train intensely and really prepare thoroughly for each game.

Now we're still trying to prepare thoroughly but in a much more condensed time which is a challenge. The challenge for the players is to recover physically and mentally for each game.

The load on those players that play every competition and international football goes up, and that's where we've got to be smart sometimes by trying to give them a rest at the appropriate time, but that's very difficult then when they're your best players and there's huge expectation on you to get results consistently. That's something I'd have to think about."
