Newcastle United fans have been given a message by manager Eddie Howe this week.

The English head coach has urged his supporters to be cautious around any transfer links to a goalkeeper.

The club are most definitely on the hunt for a shot stopper, given Nick Pope is injured and Martin Dubravka wants to leave.

"I've got no idea with the players we've been linked with," the Newcastle boss told reporters.

"Lee [Marshall] does run a few names by me and some I don't even know. I wouldn't read too much into that."

The Magpies do have financial backing from the government of Saudi Arabia, but will have a limited budget due to the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules.
