Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has stressed that Lewis Miley deserves his place in their Premier League matchday squad.
The 16-year-old has trained with the first team on several occasions this season.
Howe admits Miley has impressed each time, and he was in the matchday squad for the 1-1 draw against Bournemouth at the weekend.
"Lewi has deserved his work with us," the Magpies boss told BBC Radio Newcastle.
"Every time he has trained with us, he has done really well.
Today was another step up, a taste of match action for him, and a really good experience."
