Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is reluctant to discuss the idea of Premier League rivals drawing up plans to hold them back.

The Premier League are currently exploring stopping Newcastle from signing loan players from the Saudi Pro League, specifically from clubs owned by the Public Investment Fund, which also own Newcastle.

"I don't know where to go with that one because it's a complex answer," Howe said. "We are here to compete on the pitch and all of these things we are discussing are off the pitch. That's where it becomes very difficult for me to give you honest, clear and concise answers.

"I can't do that because I'm not party to those talks. I'm not involved in those talks. I'm just looking at the media and seeing things like you are. That's why I have to be very careful. I've got to draw a line between what I'm a part of and what I'm not.

"I'm not part of that world - I'm part of the football world. We want to compete on the pitch and we will play within the rules to try and do that."
