Newcastle boss Eddie Howe admits he's seeking a striker signing.
Newcastle allowed Chris Wood to join Nottingham Forest on-loan last week.
And Howe has insisted that he would like to add a striker to his squad over the coming days.
"It's no secret that losing Chris was a blow to us," said Howe ahead of tomorrow's Carabao Cup semi-final meeting with Southampton.
"We're not necessarily looking for a like-for-like transfer, but someone that can boost us in the attacking areas.
"The club are trying. There's no positive news to give you, but there's a lot of work going on."
