Newcastle United football chief Dan Ashworth has his scouts active in Serie A.
Sky Italia's Gianluca di Marzio is reporting Ashworth has had scouts posted to Italian games in recent weeks to check on three young players.
Ashworth, himself, was present in Salerno to see AC Milan's clash with Salernitana on Friday.
He was there checking on defender Lorenza Pirola, midfielder Lassana Coulibaly and forward Boulaye Dia.
All three players have impressed under Pippo Inzaghi at Salernitana this season.
