Newcastle fullback Kieran Trippier has urged fans to keep ambitions in-check after their Champions League defeat at Borussia Dortmund.

Tripper says they cannot forget how far they've come over the past 18 months.

Trippier told Chronicle Live: "We have another big game now and we have to forget the result in Dortmund. Bournemouth is another big game and we can keep pushing up the league. We will run ourselves into the ground again for the badge.

"The fans can see that.

"We can't be negative. Yes, we lost in the Champions League 2-0 but we are sixth in the Premier League, still in the Champions League and still in the Carabao Cup - and we still have the FA Cup to come. Those are positive signs. We can't have the negativity and we have to be positive."
