IG Esporte says the Magpies are in talks with the Brazilian's representatives to tie him down to a long-term deal.
The former Lyon midfielder has been one of the standout performers since he arrived at St. James' Park at the end of 2022. The playmaker arrived for 35m transfer fee with 6.65m in potential add-ons.
Newcastle reportedly beat Real Madrid to his signature and the Brazilian has continued to attract interest following his impressive displays.
His current deal is set to expire in June 2026.
