Newcastle are making a move for Burnley winger Maxwel Cornet.
The Daily Mail says Newcastle have opened talks with Burnley for Ivory Coast winger Cornet. The report claims Eddie Howe's side would prefer not to pay the entirety of Cornet's £17.5million release clause in one payment.
It claims that Vincent Kompany's side would accept closer to £25m over a longer period. It comes after the Magpies saw a £35million bid rejected for Leicester City playmaker James Maddison, with Newcastle exploring other options.
Eddie Howe's side have been linked with the likes of Jack Harrison, Moussa Diaby and Harvey Barnes so far this window and the Magpies are continuing their search. The report also claims Newcastle are hampered by financial restrictions and sources claim a deal is hanging in the balance.
