Newcastle United are weighing up a January move for a big money defender.

The Magpies are facing an injury crisis in the position so far this season.

Per The Sun, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is targeting Bayer Leverkusen's 20 million-rated defender Jonathan Tah.

The speedy centre back has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past.

However, Newcastle may be determined to bring him in this time, after losing Sven Botman and Dan Burn to injury.

Tah, 27, has been enjoying a very good season in the Bundesliga with Leverkusen.

The 6ft 5in center-back has just over 18 months left on his contract, which means a sale in the winter or next summer appears very likely.
