Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson has labeled his teammate Bruno Guimaraes as a superstar.

The Magpies' supporters and players are in awe of Guimaraes, who continues to light up the Premier League.

He was instrumental in their 5-1 thrashing of Brentford on Saturday, which followed up a 4-1 win over Fulham.

“When he first joined, it took him a few weeks to settle," Wilson told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"I guess it was a new league, a new team, a new environment, especially in the North East of England when you just come from a foreign country, with the wind and the cold up here.

"He has settled in. It's weird because he's got broken English but he's like an English person, with his banter and the way he is around the dressing room. He has a laugh, he's friendly and, above all, he's an unbelievable football player.

“He was fantastic on the weekend - it wasn't just about his goals. He's added that to his game… he even scored a header! It's the way he gets on the ball, the way he's flicking it around players is like he's in the playground with his friends. You know he's just enjoying it, he's a talent and superstar."

"The club were very smart in the way they brought players in they brought in the right characters. The dressing room, as it was, wouldn't let anybody come in and disrupt the boat so to speak," Wilson added on transfers in general.

“No matter who was going to join, I think they would have fit in any way. The majority were English players and we already had an English core within the dressing room."
