Newcastle United chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan suggests that the ownership group may invest in smaller teams as well.

The Magpies are now owned by a consortium with significant backing from the Saudi Arabian royal family.

While the ownership group at Manchester City already has 12 clubs in their portfolio, Newcastle's owners may soon take the same approach.

In an interview translated by a Newcastle fan on Twitter, Al-Rumayyan stated: "We have potential in sport investments to move forward.

“Hard to buy big clubs now unless we buy small clubs and also we want to see what we could do in kingdom of Saudi Arabia too."
