Housing Minister Nga Kor Ming calls for Malaysian solidarity against racial discord, highlighting unity as the nation’s core strength during global crises.

IPOH: Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming has called for national unity and the rejection of racial discord. He stressed that unity, harmony, and mutual respect are the foundation of Malaysia’s strength, especially during global crises.

Nga emphasised the need for a new resolve to stand united as one nation. He urged all Malaysians to support the government’s efforts under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership.

He asked the public to act responsibly and refrain from amplifying negative sentiments. Such actions could undermine national unity and economic development, he warned.

“Despite the fact that some neighbouring countries have declared an energy emergency, Malaysians still enjoy one of the lowest petrol prices in the world,” Nga said. He added the government is implementing various proactive initiatives to manage the situation.

“Malaysia’s unity in diversity is our greatest asset,” he stated. “Therefore, we must not allow any irresponsible narratives to erode the trust and understanding that generations of Malaysians have worked hard to build.”

Nga delivered his speech during the Perak DAP 2026 Hari Raya Aidilfitri dinner with Perak media. He also highlighted Perak’s progress under the unity government.

The state has recorded a surplus budget for four consecutive years. It also achieved its highest investment of RM15.67 billion.

Tourism in Perak is performing well, with Visit Perak Year 2025 attracting over 10.1 million visitors. Nga reiterated that every Malaysian has a role in preserving harmony and safeguarding the country’s unique diversity.

He described unity as a shared responsibility that all must uphold. This is crucial to safeguard the nation’s peace, stability, and future, he noted.

“One nation, one vision and one dream, we shall overcome (any problems),” Nga said. “One must realise that without shared responsibility, there is no shared prosperity.”
