Kota Kinabalu: Gerakan Kuasa Rakyat Malaysia (G57) on Thursday lodged a report urging police to investigate a viral video that allegedly defamed Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

Its Chairman Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar said the defamatory content, which he described as disgusting, went beyond attacking Hajiji personally and was part of a broader smear campaign.

He claimed that the election machinery of an opposition party used AI technology to mimic Hajiji’s voice to slander him regarding the corruption scandal in Sabah.

“Apart from this viral video, four other defamatory allegations were circulating on social media targeting Hajiji.

“In total, there are 35 defamation allegations spread by irresponsible individuals and certain groups against the Chief Minister and to undermine the GRS-PH government.

They have been viral since the Ramadan month,” he said after lodging a police report at the Karamunsing police station.

He hoped the police would identify and take appropriate action against the individuals and groups involved.
