Kota Kinabalu: Surgeon cum activist Dr Chong Eng Leong said changes to the Lower House, rather than the Senate, have a stronger historical basis and greater potential impact.

He said this in response to a statement by Projek Sama which proposed increasing Senate seats for Sabah and Sarawak.

“Project Sama, a newly-formed Malayan-based NGO, recently proposed to increase current members of Senate from 70 to 100, with added 15 each for Sabah and Sarawak.

“The rational is to give Sabah and Sarawak the ‘veto power’, when the total Borneo members would have more than one-third to block any constitutional amendment that would not be in the interest of Sabah and Sarawak.
