Kota Kinabalu: The Federal Government must move beyond rhetoric and take concrete steps to address the historical and ongoing injustices faced by the people of Sabah and Sarawak, said Defenders for Ancestral Land (MOPOT) president Andrew Ambrose.
“The Federal Government’s approach, rooted in a ‘holier than thou’ Malayan political model, is no longer acceptable. The Borneo states demand respect, genuine engagement, and actionable solutions. Token gestures and empty promises will not suffice,” said Andrew.
He was commenting on former Law Minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, who recently called for the Bajau Laut community to be recognised as Sabahans and Malaysians through the provision of blue identity cards.
In a post on X, Zaid slammed their recent eviction from their stilt homes in Semporna, saying they had nowhere to go but the “middle of the high seas”.
