He added that the campaign will be officiated by the Director of the Sabah State Health Department, Dr Maria Suleiman at the ITCC Shopping Centre, Penampang, on Feb 22.

“Ansara Sabah Chapter and the State Health Department together with the Blood Transfusion Medicine Department and the QE2 Transfusion Medical Service as well as the Sabah Transfusion Medical Service are supported by various parties and agencies in this noble effort.
“The eight districts in Sabah that are involved include the districts of Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau, Semporna, Lahad Datu, Kudat, Ranau and Keningau,” he said.
He said that Ansara is an association made up of alumni of the Mara Junior Science College (MRSM), nationwide.
“To date, there are 57 MRSM nationwide and five of them are located in Sabah. The first MRSM was established in 1972 in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan while the first MRSM in Sabah was established in 2002, namely in Kinarut.
“Apart from Kinarut, other MRSMs in Sabah include those in Ranau, Sandakan, Tawau and Semporna,” he said.
Meanwhile, he also shared that based on the latest statistics, only 2.5 percent of Malaysians are physically eligible to donate blood and do so.
“Therefore, by making an appointment to donate blood, you can help save three lives at once. I hope that with every visit from the public in all eight districts, donors can help increase the blood supply.
“I would like to thank on behalf of the alumni of MRSM Sabah Chapter, the Sabah National Health Department (JKN) for the opportunity to be involved in this campaign.
“Hopefully our efforts to help increase the amount of blood in the hospital blood banks in Sabah will go smoothly, God willing,” he added.
