Kota Kinabalu: NGO “Stop Fish Bombing” Malaysia (SFBMY) led by Terence Lim with the tagline: “The oceans sustain us and the planet. Let us bring back life into our ocean” is deploying autonomous drones to spot and photograph fish bombing suspects and trail them as the marine police is being notified to take action.
“One of the challenges for us from a fish bombing legal prospective is that we do not know after the fish bombers have been caught, what really happened to them,” Lim said, adding they wish to know whether the fish bombers were jailed and, etc.
Those caught with detonators are charged under the Dangerous Firearms Act. Those caught with bombed fish catch are handed over the Fisheries Department to be charged under the Fishery Act.
