NGO wants probe on Al-Quran desecration

LAHAD DATU: Persatuan Amal Azzahra Sabah lodged a police report following the circulation of a post in social media showing an individual desecrating Al-Quran.

Its Chairwoman, Noorrija Achmad said the police report which lodged at Lahad Datu Police Headquarters on Saturday was made to urge the authorities to track down and take action on the individual.

She described the act as extremely rude and insulting Islam as well as hurt the feelings of Muslims.

“We are looking seriously on this matter. Al-Quran is the holy ‘Kitab’ for muslims that should be respected by all regardless of religions and backgrounds.

“This act not only offending the sensitivities of Muslims but also disrupting the harmony of multi-religious and races in this country,” she said.

In this regard, the association called for an immediate investigation and firm action over the incident.

She added that stern action should be taken against the individual to prevent a similar incident from occurring again.
