- The NHS is opening its booking system for flu vaccinations to help ease winter demands.
- Vaccinations will start on 1 September and eligible people can contact their GP surgery to book an appointment, book at a pharmacy online or in the NHS app, or find a pharmacy that offers free NHS flu vaccination.
- NHS services will start to send invites to children and pregnant women next month via their GP practice, NHS app or letter, while other cohorts will begin receiving the jab from 1 October.
- The flu jab takes about two weeks to offer peak effectiveness and provides protection for approximately three months.
- Those who are not eligible for the free job can receive a private vaccination at pharmacies such as Boots and Superdrug.
