The second semi-final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will be decided by penalties after a cagey match between Nigeria and Morocco ended goalless after extra time.
Neither side managed to make their mark in a first half that was lacking in quality, with only half-chances for Ayoub El Kaabi and Brahim Diaz as both teams battled for control.
Both sides saw their main players nullified for large portions of the first half and it was much the same after the break, with the likes of Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Achraf Hakimi struggling to make their mark as the game edged towards extra-time and then penalties.
It means that we will need spot-kicks to separate these two teams as they bid to join Senegal in Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations final.

Morocco have also had to contend with their fair share of injuries this tournament but the return of captain and star man Achraf Hakimi suggested they had survived the worst of it. Afcon 2025: How to watch every match for free on TV and online
18:30 , Chris WilsonThe Africa Cup of Nations is nearing its climax with the semi-finals set to bring the drama, and every game will be available to watch in the United Kingdom across Channel 4.
The broadcaster has secured exclusive rights to the 24-team tournament and will show every game on Channel 4, E4 or 4Seven, or online on Channel 4’s streaming service.
Hosts Morocco are also the tournament favourites, but the Africa Cup of Nations still looks wide open with Senegal, Nigeria and Egypt all harbouring realistic ambitions of lifting the crown.

Strikers Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams grabbed second-half goals as Nigeria powered to a deserved 2-0 victory over Algeria in Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final to set up a meeting with hosts Morocco in the last four.
Osimhen steered home a long cross from the left by Bruno Onyemaechi two minutes into the second half as Algeria goalkeeper Luca Zidane made a bizarre jump to try and stop the effort but ended up getting his angles wrong and conceding an easy goal.

Brahim Diaz scored for the fifth game in a row at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations as hosts Morocco defeated Cameroon 2-0 in their quarter-final clash to keep alive their hopes of a first continental title in 50 years.
Ismael Saibari was also on target in another workmanlike display in which Morocco were efficient enough, but also created little in the way of chances, netting from two of their three shots on target.
Cameroon had a strong shout for a penalty in the second half after what looked like a foul on Bryan Mbeumo but they too battled in the final third and did not force home goalkeeper Yassine Bounou into a save in the 90 minutes.

Nigeria denied the Moroccans a fiery showdown with north African neighbours Algeria as goals from strike partnership Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams delivered the Super Eagles a 2-0 win.
The winner of the tie will set up a final clash with either Egypt or Senegal in Rabat on the weekend, who are facing off in the first semi-final of Wednesday afternoon.
