
To prevent child labour, nine children were rescued under ‘Project Jeevanjot’ by a team, constituted under the leadership of the District Child Protection Officer, during raids from Khanna.
The district task force, led by the District Child Protection Officer, Rashmi, conducted various raids to rescue the children.
The surprise checking was conducted at shops and dhabas in Khanna from where the children were rescued by the team.
District Child Protection Officer Rashmi said after rescue operation, the children were presented before the Child Welfare Committee in Ludhiana. Rashmi said after counselling of the children and their parents, the kids would be handed over to their kin.
The campaign is being conducted by Legal Officer Deepak Kumar, District Child Protection Officer and Sharad Sood, supervisor.
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain said any information can be given about child labour for the protection of children on 1098 helpline. “Child labour is prohibited and awareness is generated among masses to not to send their minor children to work and education should be provided to them. But due to financial constraints, many parents and relatives send children to work. We try to provide them proper counselling in routine for their better future,” he said.
District Child Protection Officer Rashmi said the surprise checking would be continued in the future also.
