  • Trainspotting: The Musical, adapted from Irvine Welsh's best-selling novel, is scheduled to make its West End debut this summer.
  • The production will open at London’s Theatre Royal Haymarket on 15th July, featuring Scottish actor Robbie Scott in the lead role of Mark Renton.
  • Irvine Welsh, author of the original 1993 novel, has co-written the music and lyrics for the musical alongside Stephen McGuinness.
  • Welsh described the musical as possessing 'a bigger, loudly beating human heart than either the book or the film' and an “explosive, provocative and entertaining show”.
  • Directed by Caroline Jay Ranger, the musical is billed as “the ultimate anti-musical” and will incorporate popular tracks from the cult classic film.
