Ninety individuals questioned in ongoing probe into eHati marital programme

A TOTAL of 90 individuals have had their statements recorded as part of the ongoing investigation into the controversial eHati marital motivation programme, Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed on Sunday.

“Those questioned include facilitators, participants, and staff members associated with the organising company,” he said, adding that the investigation is still underway and covers all aspects, including allegations of rituals deemed contrary to Islamic teachings.

The case drew public scrutiny after reports emerged alleging improper conduct during the event, which was held at a convention centre in Selangor.

Last Friday, the Shah Alam Magistrates’ Court rejected an application by police to extend the remand of six individuals, including the husband-and-wife founders of the eHati programme, their child, and three others.

Magistrate Zur Azureen Zainalkefli made the decision involving four women and two men aged between 26 and 47.

All six had earlier been remanded for three days from Wednesday, following approval by Magistrate Ameera Mastura Khamis to assist police investigations.

The case involves offences under minor crime provisions, including charges of indecent behaviour and defamation.

Meanwhile, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has called on the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) to investigate reports of immoral activities allegedly conducted during the programme. - July 20, 2025
