12 hours after a faltering midnight launch, there’s Nintendo Switch 2 stock all over the place. However, same-day collections are starting to run out.
Right now, Argos looks like your best bet, but not for long. It looks like Argos still has consoles, with same-day click-and-collect available nationwide, but in some locations, you may have to pick up your console at 4pm today or 9am tomorrow. In many Argos locations, the console has sold out.
Amazon launched its stock at 8am this morning, but Currys has since run dry. After cancelling orders last week, Game has dropped some consoles. It’s not just the obvious retailers; EE has launched bundles too.
However, things are really starting to thin out. Reliable sources like Smyths Toys have just run out of consoles, and there’s no more stock at Currys or Asda.
If you’re still trying to secure one, I’ll be updating this blog with every restock as it happens. Stay tuned.

Ticket queue at HMV

HMV stock is holding steady, but there’s now a queue to get onto the site.
Prime members can get a Switch 2 tomorrow
14:35
,
Alex Lee
If you’re quick, I’ve caught that Amazon is offering next-day delivery for Prime members, but you need to be fast.
Argos still has (some) same-day delivery stock
14:26
,
Alex Lee
It’s going quickly, but there’s still same-day stock at a handful of Argos locations. For example, you can find same-day stock at the Argos branches in Carmarthen, Ludlow, and Arbroath.
Remember, you have to buy it online to reserve it in store. If you rock up at Argos expecting to buy it on the spot, you’ll be disappointed.
Very sells out (again) but has a new bundle
14:09
,
Alex Lee
Told you it was volatile. Very sold out yet again.
However, I’ve just caught another bundle that includes Mario Kart World and a microSD. It is, of course, more expensive than the standalone console or the usual Mario Kart World bundle, but it might be your only chance on Very.
Very is back in stock
13:54
,
Alex Lee
There’s more stock at Very, too. Just like HMV, stock has been in and out of Very all day, so if you want a Switch 2 here, you’ve got to be rapid.
HMV back in stock

Alex Lee
HMV is back! Just caught some more stock. You need to be quick, though – stock at HMV has been among the most volatile today.
Game has click-and-collect
13:50
,
Alex Lee
It’s buried right at the end of the checkout process, but you might be able to pick up a Switch 2 from your local Game or Sports Direct today. It will vary by location, and you’ll need proof of identity:
- Cheque Guarantee/Credit/Debit Card
- Bank/Building Society Book
- Valid Passport
- Cheque Book
- Driving Licence
But as Argos runs out of same-day stock, this might be the next best option.
Stock sells out at major retailers
13:08
,
Alex Lee
Stock is selling out fast. I haven’t seen this much movement since this morning. Currys, HMV, and Asda have all just followed Smyths Toys. None of these retailers has consoles.
Your best bet for a console today or tomorrow is Argos; your best chance for a console over the next week is Amazon.
Smyths Toys is out of stock
12:57
,
Alex Lee
Smyths Toys was my go-to suggestion after Argos, but it looks like the retailer is out of stock across the country, both online and in person. It was a good run.
Smyths Toys stock only available in person

If you want a console from Smyths Toys, you need to be fast. You can no longer order a console for delivery online, and only a few of its stores still have stock. Things are looking especially sparse in Scotland. As of a couple of minutes ago, here’s how the stock stands:

Asda has stock back in

Asda has Switch 2 stock available again but it’s just the console and not the Mario Kart World bundle.
Very out of stock

Jake Brigstock
Switch 2 stock at Very seems to have gone as console and bundle purchases are currently unavailable. A more expensive bundle was available earlier today and that vanished within minutes too.
No Man's Sky gets free Switch 2 upgrade

Jake Brigstock
No Man’s Sky has been given a free Switch 2 upgrade in time for the console’s launch. Hello Games confirmed the update called Beacon has Switch 2 support at launch.
There’s full multiplayer, 4k resolution, increased planetary detail, higher frame rates, gyro aiming, cross play and cross save support.
Mario Kart World

If you haven’t already checked it out, tech writer Steve Hogarty spent six hours playing Mario Kart World – and he certainly had some thoughts (19 in fact). Here’s what he made of it.

Smyths Toys stock dwindling further
10:47
,
Jake Brigstock
Smyths Toys continues to be a popular option for those looking to pick up stock today as more and more stores are completely out of units. As mentioned earlier, it would take too long to list everywhere that does and doesn't have any stock left so here’s an updated look at where there’s just one unit left in case you live close by:
- Barnsley
- Bradford
- Cardiff East
- Colchester
- Leeds Birstall
- Linwood Paisley
- Liverpool Croxteth
- Nottingham
- Sunderland
- Watford
JD Williams has stock

Jake Brigstock
JD Williams have stock of both the console and Mario Kart World bundles. They’re selling fast though so be quick if you want to get your hands on one!
HMV has dropped stock
10:10
,
Jake Brigstock
Morning everyone! Hopping on the live blog for a couple of hours or so.
HMV has just had stock of the Nintendo Switch come in. There’s also stock of the Mario Kart World bundle too. It says stock is limited on both so hurry, hurry, hurry!
No more Mario Kart World bundles at Currys
09:46
,
Alex Lee
Looks like Mario Kart World bundles have sold out at Currys. You can still get the console by itself, and the retailer has also dropped a Split Fiction bundle with a 256GB microSD.
Stock dwindling at Smyths Toys
09:42
,
Alex Lee
Smyths Toys was almost as good an option as Argos for click-and-collect stock, but many of its stores are running low.
It would take an age to list everywhere that does and doesn’t have stock. Instead, here are the places with only one console left, in case you live nearby and need to get a move on:
- Bradford
- Bristol Longwell Green
- Colchester
- Crayford
- Derby
- Dundee
- Kilmarnock
- Leicester
- Liverpool Croxteth
- Livingston
- Sheffield Meadowhall
- Swindon
- Telford
Very just dropped stock
09:31
,
Alex Lee
There was some stock on Very this morning, an expensive bundle with Nintendo Switch 2, Mario Kart World, 2x Joy-Con 2 wheels, the Camera, and a 256GB SanDisk microSD card. It vanished in minutes.
However, the Switch 2 is back in stock at Very.
Game actually did just just drop stock
09:12
,
Alex Lee
It took a while, but you can finally add Game stock to your basket. There’s a slightly confusing warning that the console is on “pre-order” and will be available for delivery from today, which, yeah, you’d hope so? Either way, there’s stock.
Game (maybe) just dropped stock
09:04
,
Alex Lee
Game caused chaos in the days leading up to the launch as it cancelled existing orders. However, it looks like the retailer may have stock.
The link is live, but I’m struggling to add it to my basket. In case you have better luck:
Very out of stock
08:48
,
Alex Lee
That didn’t last long. That Very bundle is out of stock again. A cheaper bundle briefly appeared, but it vanished in seconds. Well done to whoever nabbed all those.
Thankfully, there’s plenty of stock elsewhere:
EE have stock – and not just for existing customers
08:25
,
Alex Lee
I knew EE would drop Nintendo Stock for existing customers, but it looks like you can buy a console even if you aren’t on EE.
Very stock just dropped
08:16
,
Alex Lee
You wait for a bus and three come along at once. Very just dropped more stock, too.
It’s not the best deal I’ve seen this morning. In fact, it’s the most expensive I’ve seen yet, and it doesn’t arrive until Friday, 13 June.
However, for those interested, you get the Nintendo Switch 2, Mario Kart World , 2x Joy-Con 2 wheels, the Camera, and a 256GB SanDisk microSD card.
Currys stock just dropped
08:05
,
Alex Lee
Currys has joined the party, too, with stock of both the standalone console and the Mario Kart World bundle.
Amazon stock just dropped
07:59
,
Alex Lee
This is not a drill. Amazon just updated for the first time in weeks. The console will arrive tomorrow, 6 June.
ShopTo has more backorder stock
07:26
,
Alex Lee
Again, I have to stress that this is on backorder, so you’ll have to wait. But if you’d like to avoid a rainy trek to Argos or Smyths Toys, there are standalone console units and a Mario Kart World bundle at ShopTo.
Argos stock tip
07:08
,
Alex Lee
Though Argos is offering same-day click-and-collect, not every shop is equal.
Though many Argos locations have stock right now – you can order it online now and grab a console before work – some won’t let you pick up the stock until the afternoon.
For example, here in London, you can collect a Switch 2 right now at Old Street Argos, but you’ll have to wait until 4pm at Shoreditch Sainsbury’s. The two locations are just 500m apart. You might have to travel a bit if you want a console right now.
Smyths Toys stock
06:28
,
Alex Lee
No other retailers have dropped 6am stock, but it’s worth a reminder that you can also click-and-collect stock from Smyths Toys, though it looks like consoles are in the single digits.
They’ve run out in Edinburgh, Ipswich, and Nottingham, so you might need to be quick.
ShopTo has backorder stock
06:12
,
Alex Lee
ShopTo also has a bundle with Mario Kart World on backorder. It’s not as exciting as the click-and-collect option from Argos, but it stops you heading out in the rain at 6am.
Argos has both the consoles and a bundle
06:05
,
Alex Lee
It’s not just standalone bundles. If you’ve read the preview news of Mariachi Waluigi and you’re desperate to play Mario Kart World ASAP, you can get a Nintendo Switch 2 Console with the game.
Argos stock is live

Argos just dropped a bunch of stock:
Argos is about to go live with Nintendo Switch 2 stock

,
Alex Lee
It may have been a disappointing night, but I’m here to brighten your morning.
We’re now just 15 minutes away from Argos going live with Nintendo Switch 2 stock. The retailer has confirmed consoles will be available from 6am, with same-day click and collect across the country.
Make sure you’re logged in, card ready, and your local store selected. Stock usually appears store-by-store, so if yours doesn’t show up straight away, keep refreshing.
News on Argos Nintendo Switch 2 drop
01:56
,
Alex Lee
Argos will have Nintendo Switch 2 consoles available in the morning for same-day click-and-collect. The retailer will release its launch day stock at 6am today (5 June), with consoles available for same-day click-and-collect.
Unlike Smyths Toys or Currys, there was no midnight launch party. You’ll need to set an early alarm instead. The good thing is that you’ll be able to pick a console up from your nearest Argos straight away and play Mario Kart before breakfast.
Smyths Toys Nintendo Switch stock drop!
01:51
,
Alex Lee
As I predicted, Smyths Toys has delivered the goods!

The retailer has restocked the standalone console and a bundle with Mario Kart World. I’ve taken a look at delivery options and there is the option to receive it tomorrow, although you will have to pay £4.99 for the express delivery.
Asda's Nintendo Switch 2 stock is gone
01:41
,
Alex Lee
Yes, that’s right, the one retailer that had stock of the console ready for the launch has now sold out. I’m keeping an eye out for other drops as they happen, but I stand by my previous point that your best bet for securing it might be at 6am. I’ll keep you posted though.
A look at the Currys midnight launch party
01:30
,
Alex Lee
While the online launch at midnight was rather anti-climatic (I’m still waiting for stock to drop somewhere other than Asda), Currys was clearly the place to be.

The retailer hosted a launch party at its flagship store on Oxford Street to anyone who had pre-ordered from that branch ahead of time. There were goody bags on offer, along with fancy dress competitions. When the Nintendo Switch 3 launches, I know where I’m going to be...
A disappointing launch night so far
01:00
,
Alex Lee
Cor, what an anticlimactic launch night. Absolutely no one has dropped stock so far.
Smyths Toys shops are now closed, and the other retailers are keeping their powder dry.
Right now, your best bet is to set an alarm for 6am – that’s when Argos has confirmed it’ll go live with Nintendo Switch 2 consoles, with same-day click and collect available nationwide.
I’ll be here through the early hours in case anything changes.
What's the situation right now?
Thursday 5 June 2025 00:20
,
Alex Lee
People have been queuing outside Currys on Oxford Street since 9pm.
Have you managed to get a console even without a pre-order? Still queuing or are you walking out with a Switch 2 tucked under your arm? Have you had luck at Smyths Toys? Let me know.

Where are the consoles?
Thursday 5 June 2025 00:10
,
Alex Lee
It’s just gone midnight and, well, no one has dropped any new stock online yet. Smyths Toys is shutting its doors at 12.30am, and it might list consoles after that.
Currys is still doing its thing in-store at its Oxford Street shop, and the usual suspects like Amazon, Argos and the My Nintendo Store are keeping us waiting.
I’ll keep refreshing through the night – stock could still land in the next few minutes.
Happy Nintendo Switch 2 release day!

Alex Lee
It’s officially 5 June, and the Nintendo Switch 2 is out now. Whether you’re refreshing tabs at home or queuing up outside a shop, the launch is finally here, and it’s already shaping up to be a wild one.
Retailers are expected to start dropping stock online over the next few hours, with some waiting until the morning. I’ll be updating this blog through the night with every drop and bundle I can find. Good luck, and happy hunting.

I’m juggling unboxing this console and keeping an eye on stock, but if you want a closer look, here’s the screen on the Nintendo Switch 2:
The screen is larger than the original Switch, with nearly two extra inches on its predecessor.
My Nintendo Switch 2 console just arrived

Many writers reported that they wouldn’t receive a Nintendo Switch 2 console before the launch, so you can imagine how shocked I was when the doorbell went and, well:
After months of covering the console, it feels surreal to have it in front of me.
If you want to order a console, it won’t arrive in time for launch day, but you can still get your hands on one:
