
Tuaran: A car workshop staff extinguished a fire that engulfed a van, preventing it from spreading to the workshop on Jalan Berungis, here on Wednesday.
There were no reported injuries in the 11.30am incident. The Nissan Vanette suffered 90 per cent damage.
According to Tuaran District Fire and Rescue Station Chief Abdul Qawie Abdul Gapar, firefighters arrived in the area after receiving a distress call at 11.43am.
“The fire engulfing the van was already doused by the workshop staff using a fire extinguisher by the time the team arrived,” he said.

He said the operation with help from members of the public brought the fire under control at 11.59am.
The operation ended at 12.05pm. The cause of fire and estimated loss is still under investigation.
