TAWAU: Apas Assemblyman Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan distributed 23 sacrificial cows to eight District Polling Centres (PDM), security agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and several associations in the district on Friday.

He said the contribution was made in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration to strengthen bonds between leaders, the community and security forces.

He added that the act of “qurban” (sacrificial slaughter) not only reinforces one’s faith but also enhances the relationship between leaders and the grassroots, while offering the community an opportunity to understand the significance of sacrifice.

Hari Raya Aidiladha is not just a celebration, but a reflection of the values of sacrifice, sincerity and compassion,” he said during the handover ceremony at the Tawau District Police Headquarters (IPD).

Nizam, who is also Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, called on the public to appreciate the peace in the country, which enables religious celebrations to be held in harmony.

“We must safeguard the blessings we have. Through programmes like this, we hope to maintain the peace we enjoy for generations to come,” he said.

Nizam was accompanied by his wife, Datin Wahida Mardiana Norsalim, during the distribution of the sacrificial cattle.
