TAWAU: GRS’ Apas candidate Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan criticised the use of personal attacks and divisive allegations in the campaign, calling such tactics disrespectful to Sabah’s culture of unity.

He said the circulation of hateful claims appeared to be a desperate move by rivals, whom he believed lacked development issues to challenge his service record.

Nizam said he has instructed his lawyer to lodge a police report and pursue legal action after a social media post falsely attributed statements to him and attempted to strain his ties with a local community.

He urged voters to reject outsiders who “act like experts” despite being “new to Apas”, saying his own track record included continuous service, strong community engagement and support for the Tawau International Cultural Festival.

Nizam said he remains grateful for the backing of Apas residents and pledged to continue strengthening urban poverty initiatives, housing efforts and SMJ development programmes if given a renewed mandate.
