NMP offers free maritime trainings to reintegrate repatriated OFWs

AS part of the government initiative to mitigate the impact of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, the National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) has launched a comprehensive support initiative by offering free maritime training courses and dormitory accommodation to displaced and repatriated overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Based on the issued guidelines, displaced or repatriated OFWs, both sea-based and land-based, may avail themselves of tuition-free maritime training courses designed to enhance their competencies, renew certifications, and improve employability in the global maritime industry. To further ease accessibility, dormitory fee is also waived.

The support package covers a range of essential and refresher courses, including Basic Training (BT), Training Course for Instructors (IMO Model Course 6.09), Mental Health Awareness for Seafarers (MHAS), Updating Course for BT, and Refresher Courses on BT, Advanced Fire Fighting (AFF), Survival Craft and Rescue Boat (SCRB), and Fast Rescue Boat (FRB).

Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested OFWs shall submit an application letter through nmp.middleeastresponse@gmail.com, indicating their full name, contact details (email address and mobile number), and the course they intend to enroll in.

“This initiative reflects our commitment in these challenging times, helping affected OFWs maintain or upgrade their certifications, address skills gaps resulting from displacement, and facilitate their re-entry into gainful employment,” said Victor Del Rosario, NMP executive director.

The reintegration project is in line with the whole-of-government response framework of the Office of the President mandated under Executive Order 110 issued on March 24, 2026.

As the maritime training and research arm of the government under the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), NMP is taking an active role in helping Filipino workers regain stability and rebuild their careers.
