Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has not reached out to DAP leadership regarding any upcoming Cabinet reshuffle, leaving the party awaiting further signals as speculation intensifies over vacancies in the federal administration.

DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the Prime Minister has so far not initiated discussions with him or other senior party figures on the matter. While acknowledging that Cabinet appointments fall squarely under the Prime Minister’s prerogative, he noted that coalition norms require each party to provide its views when leadership consultations begin.

Speaking after officiating the groundbreaking ceremony for the Seremban Sentral Transit-Oriented Development, Anthony explained that any exchange on Cabinet positions would take place directly between the Prime Minister and individual party leaders. He added that he would present DAP’s stance only when invited for a face-to-face discussion.

At present, he said, there has been no indication from the Prime Minister on when an announcement about the reshuffle might be made. The party, he stressed, is waiting for clarity rather than acting on rumours.

When asked whether he is satisfied with the performance of DAP ministers in the current administration, Anthony said such evaluations would be conveyed privately to the Prime Minister during their meeting, when it eventually occurs.

Prime Minister Anwar had earlier stated that any reshuffle would be a minor one, focused solely on filling existing vacancies rather than overhauling the Cabinet. His explanation emphasized that the current Cabinet has only about one and a half years left before its term concludes, suggesting that a major restructuring would be impractical at this stage.

Reports had previously indicated that an announcement was expected in early December, but no update has emerged from the Prime Minister’s Office. Within the coalition, some leaders have publicly commented on the need to fill empty ministerial positions, while others have cautioned against unnecessary changes that could disrupt administrative continuity.

Anthony’s remarks reflect a wait-and-see posture within DAP as the unity government navigates post-election pressures, internal coalition expectations and ongoing public scrutiny. As talks remain pending, the political landscape continues to watch for the moment Anwar opens formal discussions with coalition partners—signalling the start of what could be the administration’s last significant reshuffle before the next general election.
