The coin-toss rules before penalty shoot-outs have not been changed at short notice at the World Cup, FIFA said on Monday.
The world governing body had submitted a proposal to rulemaking body the International Football Association Board for one coin toss rather than two before a shoot-out.
Currently, one toss gives the winner the power to choose which team starts the penalty shoot-out, while the other coin toss decides which end of the pitch the penalties are taken from.
FIFA wants one coin toss with the winner deciding which of the two variables to choose. The loser would have chosen the other factor.
But any alterations will not be made during the ongoing competition, FIFA says.
The World Cup knock-outs have already begun.
