Civic responsibility and public cleanliness in India has once again become a topic of discussion.
Social worker Anoop Nautiyal recently shared a clip on his Instagram handle wherein he’s seen confronting tourists after allegedly spotting them throwing plastic waste onto a roadside in Mussoorie while travelling.
In no time the clip spread like wildfire on social media and drew strong reactions from frustrated viewers.
In the now-viral video, Nautiyal is seen holding a used plastic cup and spoon sitting in his car, claiming the items had just been tossed out of the vehicle travelling ahead of him. He then approaches the tourists to return the waste.
Apparently, a middle-aged woman was responsible for littering the road. He said he calmly requested the tourists not to repeat such actions in the future and urged them to respect public spaces.
The good thing is that the tourist reportedly accepted the litter back and appeared apologetic.
Netizens react:
“Indians do not even consider the country their own home. That is why such things are happening,” one user wrote. “Why do tourists always act like this? Do they openly litter their homes as well?” another commented. A third reacted, “That is why India is such a gone case of a country. People here hardly have any civic sense."
