No cracks found in Jalan Cheras flyover, says Works Ministry

CHECKS by the Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) on the Jalan Cheras flyover found no signs of cracks, the Works Ministry said in a social media post.

The ministry said the inspection was conducted at 11.30pm yesterday by the MHA, the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway concessionaire and a consultant.

“There are no cracks. There is just a black line, a construction joint from previous work.

“The consultant has also confirmed that the highway structure is in no way affected and is safe,” read the post.

The ministry said an inspection and safety verification report will be prepared and submitted to the MHA.

Yesterday, Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi ordered the MHA and SPE concessionaire to inspect alleged cracks on a flyover along Jalan Cheras immediately.

Nanta expressed concern about the purported cracks, which could put the safety of motorists at risk.

“I have instructed the Malaysian Highway Authority and the SPE highway concessionaire to go to the site to carry out an immediate inspection and evaluation,” he wrote on X.

“The safety of all parties, especially road users, must be prioritised.”
