MEMBAKUT: The State Government does not restrict any speakers from giving religious lectures in the State as long as they follow the procedures set out under the Sabah Islamic Religious Council Enactment.

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Ariffin Arif said the procedures include obtaining a religious teaching certificate from the Sabah Mufti’s Office.

“This procedure is commonly carried out in all States because it is enshrined in the enactment of the respective Islamic religious councils. So far, we have no problem certifying any qualified speakers after being interviewed (by the mufti’s office).
