PETALING JAYA – Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim is not among potential candidates shortlisted by Selangor PAS to contest in the upcoming state election.
Speaking to Mingguan Malaysia, Selangor PAS liaison secretary Roslan Shahir Mohd Shahir said that the party had already identified the candidates who would be contesting and to date, there had been no discussions at state level to field Shahidan.
“To date, all the candidates named by Selangor PAS are locals. However, at the federal level, we do not know if there are plans to field Shahidan in any of the state seats,” he said.
He said based on what the former federal territories minister said, Shahidan had only offered himself to contest if necessary and never announced he was contesting.
Shahidan, who was dropped from Barisan Nasional’s candidates list in the last general election, sprung a surprise when he contested under the PAS ticket for the Arau parliamentary seat.
Last night, Shahidan had heads turning when he expressed a willingness to contest the Semenyih state seat in the upcoming Selangor polls.
“If the Perikatan Nasional (PN) leadership need me to contest, I will fight. PN must take over all these states (Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Selangor dan Negri Sembilan) and if can create an ‘astonishing wave’, then why now,” he reportedly said.
Roslan also said the distribution of seats in Selangor between PAS and Bersatu was almost completed. – The Vibes, April 30, 2023
