THE camp of former senator Ramon Revilla Jr. on Tuesday said no evidence has been presented to show his involvement in an alleged ghost project in Pandi, Bulacan.

Revilla and several other people are facing a malversation through falsification case before the Sandiganbayan’s Third Division. The court started hearing Revilla’s petition for bail on Monday.

In a media interview on Tuesday, Reody Anthony Balisi, one of his lawyers, said that the former lawmaker “had no participation whatsoever and no involvement in this questioned project.”

“Whether ghost or not, he has no participation,” Balisi said.

He said that the testimonies of two witnesses presented on the first day of bail hearings — a representative of the National Bureau of Investigation and a project coordination officer of the Department of Public Works and Highways First District Engineering Office of Bulacan — suggested that Revilla had no involvement in either the procurement or implementation of the project.

“We have seen the admission of witnesses and even subject of stipulation that there is nothing in any of the documentary evidence that was presented so far, bulk of the documents, everything there, senator Revilla has no signature, no name, no involvement,” Balisi said.

“We have seen from the testimonies and even from the prosecution’s own documents that there is no participation at all on the part of the former senator,” he added.

The bail hearing will resume tomorrow. The prosecution is expected to present up to 20 witnesses, including a former government official.

“We will confront the witnesses with our questions and evidence,” Balisi said.

The defense expressed confidence that the prosecution’s case is weak since no documentary or testimonial evidence has been presented to show Revilla’s involvement in the alleged P92.8 million ghost project.
