Kota Kinabalu: Being the second busiest airport in Malaysia, the blackout at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) on Tuesday is a malter of concern, said Sabah Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Satta) Dato’ Seri Winston Liaw called the need for Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) to have a standby generator to ensure immediate power restoration during such outages.
“The blackout raised safety concerns for both aircraft and passengers,” said Liaw.
Liaw, who is also a member of the Sabah Economic Advisory Committee (SEAC), expressed disappointment over the incident, particularly given his role in overseeing the airport’s well-being.
