KUALA LUMPUR – There is no final decision yet on the exemption of water and electricity bills from the planned sales and service tax hike, which is expected to start in March.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the government will discuss the matter as some areas, such as who is entitled to the exemption, need to be examined.
Asked whether the government would discuss this matter in the coming cabinet meeting, Fadillah, who is also energy transition and water transformation minister, said: “There is nothing specific on that yet, but the Finance Ministry is looking at the overall situation right now.”
