MANILA, Philippines — Executive Secretary Ralph Recto on Monday dispelled reports that another major Cabinet revamp is in the works.

“At present, there is no impending Cabinet shake-up. Speculation about a looming revamp does not serve any constructive purpose for the government or the Filipino people,” the Palace official said in a statement.

Talks have been circulating that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is about to wield the axe on several department heads to arrest the skid in his approval ratings.

Among the agencies reportedly under review are the Departments of Health, Education, Foreign Affairs, Tourism, Transportation, Information and Communications Technology, Public Works and Highways and Economy, Planning and Development as well as the Bureau of Customs.

“As always, all appointees serve at the pleasure of the President, and their performance is subject to constant review by the Office of the President,” Recto said.

“Everyone should remain focused on their jobs for the good of our people,” he added.
