Iranian state TV denies any delegation has departed for US talks in Pakistan, stating participation depends on a change in American behaviour

TEHRAN: Iranian state television has denied that any delegation has left the country for talks with the United States in Pakistan.

“So far, no delegation from Iran has departed for Islamabad, Pakistan; whether it is the main or subsidiary delegation, primary or secondary,” state TV said.

The broadcaster dismissed earlier reports suggesting a delegation had already travelled.

It quoted unnamed Iranian officials stating that taking part in the negotiations “depends on the change in the behaviour and positions of the Americans.”

This statement reinforces Iran’s conditional stance on engaging with Washington.

The position aligns with recent comments from Iran’s powerful parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

He led talks with the US two weeks ago and stated Iran would “not accept negotiations under the shadow of threats.”
