There is NO NEED to declare Jalan Masjid India a danger zone despite the sinkhole incident, says The Inspector-General of Police (IGP).

In a media conference shared via PDRM’s Facebook page, the IGP, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said there is a protocol to follow to declare the place a danger zone.

“The police need to submit an application to the National Security Council (MKN) to declare the incident a disaster.”

Razarudin also said the sinkhole incident is NOT a disaster, but the authorities, including PDRM and the firefighters, are handling the matter as if it were a disaster.

Following the detection of sunken roads, Razarudin has ordered the 1.4 KM long route from Jalan Masjid India to Jalan Raja Laut to be closed.

For the time being, no other roads in the area are closed.

Additionally, IGP added that businesses in the area are going on as usual. DBKL, on the other hand, has cancelled the Merdeka Eve celebration to respect the victim of the incident.

The search for the sinkhole victim is still in full swing. We can only pray and hope that Vijalatchumi is found soon.
