Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on all sectors of society to protect young Malaysians from being pulled into narrow political disputes and racial divisions. Speaking at the Perlis State-level Aidilfitri Madani 2025 Celebration at Dataran Lok 9, Kuala Perlis, Anwar stressed that the nation's youth must be empowered with skills that align with future global needs.
He emphasized that rather than fueling debates that create divisions, efforts should be channeled toward equipping young people with expertise in critical areas such as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), digital advancement, and artificial intelligence (AI).
Anwar emphasized that we should not involve our young people in issues that weaken us. Our responsibility is to develop their strengths, build the nation, and think ahead for the next 10 or 20 years. He questioned whether Malaysians want to remain stuck in racial and political quarrels or work together to elevate the country's status as a progressive and resilient nation.
In his speech, Anwar highlighted the government’s ongoing initiatives aimed at fostering youth development. He pointed out that the largest allocation under the Civil Budget has been directed toward the education sector, reinforcing the government’s commitment to building a skilled and knowledgeable generation.
"This approach is vital to produce individuals who will excel across various fields and enhance Malaysia's standing as a leading nation in the Asian region," he added.
The Prime Minister reiterated the Madani Government’s mission to steer young citizens away from divisive agendas and instead offer them opportunities to thrive through education and skills-building programs.
He also called on all parties, regardless of their political or social backgrounds, to come together in support of the government’s vision for a better future.
Anwar's message was clear: national progress hinges on unity, foresight, and investment in the potential of the country's youth. Instead of being weighed down by old rivalries, Malaysians must focus on preparing the younger generation for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
