MANILA, Philippines — The prices of basic necessities and prime commodities will remain the same until the end of the year, Malacañang said on Tuesday.
These include 190 products that are monitored by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), serving as a guide for stores and consumers regarding the prices of goods, Presidential Communications Office Claire Castro said.
Castro said Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina Roque gave the assurance in line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. that prices of basic necessities and prime commodities included in the DTI's suggested retail price (SRP) should not increase.
"According to the DTI report, the prices of DTI-supervised basic necessities and prime commodities will remain unchanged until December 31, 2026," Castro said in a press briefing.
The DTI also confirmed that the supply of essential goods nationwide will not be affected, she said.
"To ensure the public knows which products are covered, the official SRP bulletin will be displayed in supermarkets and groceries across the country," Castro said in Filipino.
