Two months after the disappearance of Datin Seri Pamela Ling Yueh, her family has voiced growing frustration over what they perceive as a lack of urgency and transparency in the police investigation. Ling had vanished on April 9 while en route to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters, where she was scheduled to assist in a money laundering probe. Her ride via an e-hailing service was reportedly intercepted by several unknown vehicles before she could reach the destination.

Speaking on behalf of the family, lawyer Sangeet Kaur Deo shared that 47 individuals have had their statements recorded by the authorities. However, no substantial leads have been reported, and the family claims to have received little feedback despite providing additional information proactively over the past six weeks.

Sangeet raised several concerns regarding the progress of the investigation, pointing out the absence of updates on key matters. Among the questions posed was whether MACC personnel had been thoroughly interviewed and whether authorities had examined the specific information Ling was planning to share with the commission. The family is also questioning if parties who may have had a vested interest in that information have been identified and interrogated.

Another major concern is the lack of action on international coordination. The family was told weeks ago that one of the vehicles seen in CCTV footage during the abduction was later discovered abandoned near the Thai border. Despite this, there appears to have been no immediate alert issued to the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), raising doubts about whether the necessary cross-border protocols are being followed.

Sangeet also questioned whether the police have adhered to their own standard operating procedures (SOPs) regarding missing persons and whether external expertise has been sought to aid the investigation.

Pamela Ling’s disappearance has stirred public attention due to its high-profile nature and the disturbing circumstances surrounding her abduction. Her lawyer had promptly filed a police report on the day she went missing, and the case continues to be treated as one involving a missing person.

As concern mounts and crucial time continues to pass, Ling’s family remains desperate for answers, urging authorities to accelerate their efforts and expand the scope of the investigation beyond national borders.
